Dear Valuable Visitors

On behalf of the Faculty, staff and current students in the SUMS Health school, I welcome you to the faculty at SUMS This site serves as a focal point for all researchers at the faculty and provides investigators with the information and resources necessary for conducting research projects.

I am pleased to present the 2019 Research and Technology Office Annual Report for the Faculty of Health at SUMS where you will discover the vast array of initiatives taking place and highlights from the past years. The 2019 year resulted in significant achievements, opportunities, and continued growth for our major, broad-based research initiatives which focus on the problem based and practical researches Major recruitment efforts continue to build our capacity in these areas of priority, capitalizing on emerging opportunities and increasing integration with our faculty partners while also promoting interactions across organizational & health in and outside of the departments. These invaluable partnerships throughout the Faculty of Health allow us to attract the best candidates from Iran and around the world. Together, our collective vision has allowed for greater optimization of human and operational resources as well as better infrastructure planning and support.

Our dedicated Faculty members, leadership, and trainees have many reasons to be proud. The Faculty of Health ranks among the nation’s best for health institutes, a key element of the SUMS and Iranian Ministry of Health. Impressively, the SUMS ranks within 8 medical institutes N0. #1 in Iran. As we continue to work hard at this level, it allows us to lead the way in developing novel and integrated research initiatives spanning multiple sectors.

Of course, our strengths and successes in designing appropriate strategic plans and developing of applied sciences to find solutions for all health needs extend beyond these areas, and I invite you to explore the web pages of our departments, institutes and centers to learn more.

Today, the advancement of new technologies reflects the growing development of scientific achievements in various fields. Undoubtedly, Research activities play an important role in social, economic, healthcare development. In this regard, the research and technology affairs of Shiraz Health School, based on the general policies of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and the ministry, each year, presents specific research strategies to improve the quality of research for all faculty members and students.

Vision and Mission

· Policies for research activities and the determination of the research strategy of the faculty

· Promotion and development of activities and research facilities of educational groups

· Determine the research priorities of the training groups

· Studying and registering the subject of student-assistant theses

· Follow-up of thesis and non-dissertation research projects from the beginning until the final approval of the plan (submission of the proposal for arbitration, holding of the meetings of the research council to review and approve the plan, submission of the proposal to the vice chancellor of the university

· Conduct affairs for the defense of theses

· Provide preconditions and appropriate context for research activities to be more favorable

· Increasing the ability of professors to research and publish scientific articles

· Holding research workshops on a continuous basis

· Applying the system to encourage and encourage faculty members to conduct research activities

· To conduct the affairs related to the award of the articles of faculty members of the faculty

· Follow up of administrative correspondence and information on the rules, policies and approvals of the research council of the university

· Collecting the articles of faculty members

· Performing the affairs related to the preparation of the form, entering the information of the published articles and sending it to the university

· Supervision and review of books (compilation / translation) of the faculty members at the College of Publications and sending the results to the University Press Committee

· Monitoring the activities of the Student Research Committee

· Supervising the Library Affairs of the Faculty of Health

· Supervising the provision, collection and availability of books, journals and scientific journals

The library of the School of Public Health with 9058 volumes of Persian and 3564 volumes of Latin books established for providing services to students and faculty members. The Library books are divided into eight categories based on the fields of the faculty, including (epidemiology, nutrition, occupational health, environmental health, public health, health education and aging and medical entomology). The subjects of library's books including: Epidemiology, Nutrition Sciences, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Education & Promotion, Aging Health, Gerontology, & Medical Entomology.
